Most Common Super Foods

Antioxidants are great for us. There are many super foods available in the market that contain antioxidants which can help slow down or prevent some diseases as well as slow down aging. Among the many antioxidant foods, there are some that really stand out. The following are some of the better super foods known to us.

Red Grapes

Red grapes are one of the most popular antioxidant foods in the world. Recent studies have shown that moderate consumption of red wine destroys cancer cells from the inside and enhances the effectiveness of radiation and chemotherapy cancer treatments. The recommended daily intake of red wine is one glass.

Berries

Most of the many different kinds of berries are great antioxidant foods. Not only are they full of antioxidant but they are also loaded with vitamins, minerals and other elements that help our bodies grow and fight off diseases. The most notable berries are acai, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries and raspberries. If you notice, berries with richer colors are among the most nutritious and full of antioxidants. Fresh berries are better than processed.

Tomatoes

Cooked tomatoes are better than raw because heat allows these antioxidant foods to release lycopene which can reduce the risks of certain cancers. Lycopene is more powerful then beta-carotene in aiding our bodies health. Tomatoes are great antioxidant foods because they can be used in a wide range of meals and can be a beverage.

Carrots

Carrots contain beta-carotene which is a healing agent that helps our bodies against cancer. Beta-carotene can be found in other yellow-orange fruits and vegetables. Similar to lycopene, beta-carotene is affected by heat. Carrots and other vegetables with beta-carotene are most effective when cooked.

Cruciferous Vegetables

Cruciferous vegetables include cabbages, broccoli, cauliflower and Brussels sprouts. They are notably able to reduce the risk of certain cancers and are high in antioxidants for better health. These foods can also help to prevent heart disease.
