The Health Benefits Offered by Antioxidant Drinks

Antioxidant drinks offer a wealth of benefits, just as antioxidant foods do. Before one begins to include antioxidant drinks or food into their life, it is important that they are aware of what antioxidants are and how they are going to benefit their health and wellbeing.

What are Antioxidants?

There are free radicals which form in the body. These are unstable molecules that react easily with essential molecules of the body. This includes DNA, fat and proteins, and all organic and inorganic materials consist of atoms which can be bound together to form molecules. When a free radical attacks one of these molecules, it will then become a free radical itself and this causes a chain reaction which can result in the destruction of a cell.

Antioxidants work by attacking these free radicals and stopping the chain reaction in its tracks. Therefore without antioxidants, healthy molecules in the body would continue to be destroyed, leaving the person’s body in very poor condition. Antioxidants are phytochemicals, vitamins and other nutrients that protect the body’s cells from damage that is caused by these free radicals.

Antioxidant Drinks

There are many ways that a person can increase their intake of antioxidants, namely by eating brightly colored fruits and vegetables. Antioxidant drinks are also very helpful. One of the most popular drinks that are high in antioxidants is Acai. The amazing Acai fruit is considered to be nature’s perfect food and has been featured on the Oprah Winfrey show.

This drink offers many benefits to a person’s health and will improve mental clarity. It offers a very high antioxidant content, helps to increase energy levels, combats premature aging, and also helps to bolster the immune system.

Pomegranate juice concentrate is another antioxidant drink. This drink helps prevent cancer and to maintain a healthy heart. It has naturally occurring high levels of ellagic acid. It helps to reduce LDL cholesterol in the blood. In addition it helps to maintain a healthy blood pressure, helps to alleviate symptoms that are commonly associated with menopause and is a natural astringent.
