It is common for a person to decisde that it is time to get rid of the excess pounds that they have added through the years. It is not a hard thing to do to say I want to lose ten pounds. Finding the motivation to actually accomplish it is another story. Our wishlist of things that we desire in life is very long, but much of this list is unfulfilled. Our desire might be to have a private jet, instead we find ourselves lucky to be able to fly coach. We can do something to get rid of the extra pounds we carry. It is an accomplishment that is attainable by most people. It is not enough to say you want to lose weight, you have to do the work by eating right and exercising in order for it to happen. It takes the right motivation to be able to succeed. It doesn’t matter if you want to learn how to lose weight fast or if you want to do it at a slower pace, there has to be some good reasons for you to do it if you want to succeed. Is there some good motivation for shedding the fat?

Reason number one is your clothes don’t fit. Although we hate to admit it, our closet is not full of clothes that are made for someone else who is smaller, we have just gotten bigger as time has gone by. Many of the shirts and pants that are hanging up in your closet can still be used if you would get rid of the belly fat that has gotten bigger since you first purchased them.

Next, is to increase what you can physically do. The extra weight makes a lot of things much harder. The extra weight prohibits you from a lot of activities that you would enjoy doing. Your kids will enjoy someone who can ride a bike with them more than someone who teaches them how to use a remote control. The best memories in life are created when you are performing physical activities such as bike riding with the people you love.

The third thing is to alter you appearance. People judge others based upon their appearance and how much you weigh is one of the most obvious forms of our appearance. It is not good to be know as the lonely fat guy lying on the beach rather than the guy who has done his six pack ab exercises that has all the women flocking to him. By investing in a fitness regimen and proper nutrition, your body will feel the effects and they will be noticed by others.

Reason number four is health. There are many different diseases that are directly linked to obesity. Some of these issues csn be life threatening. By losing the extra weight, it is possible to reverse many of these maladies and extend your life span. A proper diet and a regular exercise program are essential to a long, healthy and happy life. You will feel better and also look better when you take care of the weight.

The fifth reason is to do it for the people you love. Your family wants you to be around them and to be able to enjoy your company for as long as is possible. Your family wants to be able to enjoy spending time with you and not being overweight makes that much easier. Being active and eating right is helpful to all the members of you inner circle, not just to you alone.

So that is a list of five reasons to lose weight. The list does not include every possible reason, that is unique for everyone. There are many discussion groups on the internet such as the biggest loser forum, where people discuss their reasons and motivations to live a healthier life. If you really decide to lose the weight, find the reason and share it with others and you are on your way to a successful plan.
